Eligibility of Third Covid-19 Booster Dose
The state of Qatar’s MoPH announced recently that, all the individuals who got their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least six months ago are now required to receive 3rd COVID-19 booster shot of vaccine. For this the ministry has explained that the previous requirements for booster dose that an eight-month period must pass between the second dose of the vaccine and the third booster dose for booster shot, but due to the increasing in recent clinical evidence, it shows that the protective immunity most people obtain from the first two doses of the vaccine begins to gradually decrease after six months. So, it was decided to reduce the time between the second dose of the vaccine and the third booster dose to six months after the second dose.
New Covid-19 Booster Requirements
Now after this announcement, the ministry has called on all the citizens and residents of Qatar who meet the new criteria are currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 booster vaccine, regardless of age and not to delay it any further, because the ministry has indicated that a slight increase in new daily cases was recorded in recent past two weeks among people who even had previously received the vaccine, which confirms that the battle against Covid-19 is not over yet.

As previously seen one of the most significant factors leading to the success of Qatar in the case of COVID-19 strategy is in due to curbing the spread of the disease has been the country’s high rate of vaccination within its population. This emphasis on vaccination led to a noticeable decrease in the number of new daily cases, hospital admissions and deaths. However, on the other hand the Ministry pointed out that in the past two weeks, a slight increase has been noticed in the new daily cases among people who had been vaccinated before. This is a reminder that the fight against COVID-19 has not ended and it is still important to be vigilant.
New strategy of Qatar to counter rapid increase of Covid-19 cases
The Ministry also said that additional booster vaccines have been provided in all health centers of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and they will contact people to set an appointment, as the fight against COVID-19 has not ended and it is still important to be careful. As COVID-19 still lurking and taking peoples life across the globe, MoPH has asked those citizens that are traveling abroad to remain cautious and get the booster vaccine as soon as possible if they are eligible under the updated criteria.
Those who are eligible for booster dose and have not yet been contacted by PHCC can call 4027 7077 to schedule an appointment. COVID-19 vaccination appointments can also be made via PHCCs bilingual mobile app named as, ‘Nar’aakom’. MoPH stressed the need to make an appointment before visiting a health center for the COVID-19 booster vaccine by calling the number above or using the ‘Nar’aakom’ mobile application.
